What is Socratic teaching?
Socratic teaching is a method where the teacher guides a student to the answer by asking questions instead of giving explanations. When a student is stuck, the learning coach asks a smaller question the student can answer, then builds from there one step at a time. The student does the thinking, and each correct step becomes the foundation for the next question. Understanding built this way lasts, because the student reached the answer through their own reasoning instead of copying someone else’s.
